Bastian is going nowhere– one message from founder Shilpa Shetty is all it took to put the rumours to rest. Instead of shutting down as dictated by previous scuttlebutt, the restaurant is undergoing an exciting transformation! The outlet in Bandra is now turning into a stunning South Indian joint named Ammakai, while the Bandra outlet itself will be relocated to Juhu and renamed as Bastian Beach Club.
Ammakai- A new South Indian restaurant by Bastian Hospitality
A statement on its official Instagram page reads, “From mid-October, the iconic Bandra space will transform into Ammakai, a speciality South Indian restaurant. Meaning the ‘mother’s hand,’ Ammakai embodies comfort, warmth and authenticity.” Following, “Ammakai pays homage to the depth of South Indian culinary traditions, recipes steeped in heritage, enriched with regional flavours, and brought to life with the impeccable service and quality synonymous with the Bastian name.”
With headlines saturating social media, the announcement came not a few hours back, setting the record straight as well as announcing the expansion of Bastian Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.

Further, the relocation and reinvention of the restaurant under the name of Bastian Beach Club expands the brand’s signature, now venturing into coastal shores. The official statement reads, “At the same time, Bastian is expanding its vibrant spirit to the shores of Juhu with the Bastian Beach Club. The new coastal destination will capture the brand’s signature energy of indulgence and celebration.”
Known for its fantastic ambience, delicious seafood and a steady stream of celebrity patrons, this restaurant has been Mumbai’s most sought-after destination. The overwhelming discourse about its standings had uncovered its loyal clientele, yet only now revealing that the disappointing news was in fact the beginning of not just one, but two exciting new ventures!
