Who is in the Mumbai Indians squad for 2025?
Hardik Pandya is Mumbai Indians’ full-time skipper this year but will sit out the opening match against CSK to serve a one-match ban he logged in IPL 2024. This is a penalty following over from 2024 for a slow over-rate. Suryakumar Yadav, who’s proved his leadership chops as India’s T20 captain, instead will helm the MI team in Pandya’s absence.
Suryakumar’s strategic thinking is vital to toppling a solid team like CSK and gaining a foothold on the scoreboard at the start of the IPL season, especially when the record of being the first team to win six IPL seasons is at stake – besides Mumbai, Chennai is the only other team with 5 IPL wins. It also doesn’t help that injured Jasprit Bumrah, a trump card for Mumbai, is still undergoing rehabilitation and will be absent from the first game.
Head coach Mahela Jayawardene is guiding the team with a strong Indian core and a talented overseas contingent. Ex-captain with the Midas touch, Rohit Sharma continues to be a vital part as the opening batsman and Arjun Tendulkar, legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son, will flex his cricketing pedigree on the field. Further, explosive talents like South African batter Ryan Stickleton and Kiwi pacer Trent Boult are key signings this year.

When is the final of IPL 2025?
The IPL 2025 final will be held on May 25 in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. But only after the culmination of 70 group stage matches and three playoff matches – two Qualifiers and and one Elimiator game – that determine the two finalists. Fingers crossed that aamchi Mumbai will be one of them this year!
