Somebody said ‘2026 is the new 2016’ and it couldn’t be truer. The world is escaping digital fatigue with old-school filters, the love-and-hate for skinny jeans, retro memes, and especially throwback music. From perfecting the dog filters to dancing the night away in clubs to the addictive tunes of Closer, the golden days of 2016 seem just like yesterday. But, never say never, the nostalgia is not ready to die so quickly, especially when the year end 2026 has big bold plans ahead. Get ready to party like it’s 2016 as The Chainsmokers return to Mumbai after almost a decade. As part of their three-city India tour to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru this year, the DJ duo is bringing their unforgettable bops to the Bollywood city on December 18, 2026. Here’s all you need to know about the comeback, tickets, and more to get a head start on planning.
The Chainsmokers 2026 India Tour
Who would have thought that EDM tracks would continue to remain a classic in our playlist a decade later? Well, we have many pioneers to thank for that, especially, The Chainsmokers. The Grammy-winning duo of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall has pioneered an alternative mix of indie vocals with pop-EDM. Whether it is a millennial living their heyday or Gen Z recalling the nostalgia of better days, no Y2K playlist is complete without them. Headlining the much-awaited Sunburn Festival in Mumbai this December, the return of The Chainsmokers marks a cultural moment of music, fandom, production, and community.
After all, who could forget the sensational 2016 single, Closer ft Halsey, blaring across pubs and clubs. Additionally, it spent 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and over 5.8 billion plays across platforms. Who can forget the Coldplay classic, Something Just Like This or the party break-up hit, Don’t Let Me Down?
Moreover, the Sunburn Festival itself shall follow its dedicated two-day format at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The official lineup will be rolled out in phases and include a massive array of national and international EDM talents. With multiple stages, interactive brand experiences, and more, expect a massive genre blend of electronic, house, techno, indie, and pop.
