By now, you might already be familiar with Candlelight. You may well have even secured your tickets to an upcoming concert in the city already. If so, you’re probably wondering what to expect from the whole candlelit experience. From the dress code to the setlist, seating policies and more, here are five helpful things to know before your Candlelight concert in Mumbai.
1. Plan ahead

Planning your journey ahead sounds pretty obvious, but it’s important to get to the venue with plenty of time to spare if you want to get the best views possible in your section. Doors usually open 30 minutes before the concert start time and seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis in each zone. So, figuring out how you’re getting to the venue with some time to spare is highly recommended.
2. What to expect when you arrive
Candlelight concerts take place in some of Mumbai’s most gorgeous settings, including India’s only surviving Royal Opera House and the state-of-the-art Veda Kunda Theatre. Once you arrive, a member of the Candlelight team will scan your tickets and show you to your seating section, where you’ll sit amid thousands of twinkling LED candles.
3. Can you take photos?
Before the show starts, you’ll be asked to refrain from taking photos or videos during the show. You’ll also be asked to keep your phone on silent throughout the performance so you don’t distract the musicians on stage (or bother the other concertgoers). Towards the end of the evening, however, one of the performers will let you know that photos and videos are allowed for the last few songs.
4. The programme
The evening’s setlist is tentative. Nonetheless, each show’s programme has been carefully curated to provide the best concert experience for the audience. For example, if you’re heading to a concert honouring a pop icon like Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran, expect to hear their most popular hits. Likewise, if you’re going to a classical tribute to the likes of Vivaldi or Bach, you’ll enjoy the timeless pieces we all know and love.
5. Dress code
To dress up or not to dress up, that is the question. At Candlelight concerts in Mumbai, there’s no need to dress in all your finery. Of course, you’re more than welcome to put on your fanciest fit, but if you’d rather keep things casual, that’s also fine too. And if you’re really stuck on what to wear, smart casual is the way to go.
So there you have it – five super helpful things to know before your Candlelight Mumbai experience. Now all that’s left is to sit back, relax and immerse yourself in the magic of these enchanting candlelit concerts.
