Day or night, Mumbai is a mile-a-minute metropolis. Even after the sun’s gone down, there’s always something fun to do and people to do it with. Whether it’s sipping on cocktails in a bar or dancing the night away at a nightclub, there are tonnes of staple night-time activities to enjoy. But that’s not all — you can experience the night in Mumbai in some pretty unique ways too. So without further ado, here are our top things to do at night in Mumbai for all you night owls out there.
1. Take a late-night stroll down Marine Drive
Ah, a stroll down Marine Drive. It’s one of the classic things to do in Mumbai, but what many don’t know is that the walk is just as enchanting at night, if not more. The entire stretch is illuminated by streetlights which gives it the famous “Queen’s Necklace” effect, and the gentle breeze from the Arabian sea is a welcome relief from the day’s heat. You can also find a good few street food stalls selling delicious pani puris, vada pavs and much more until the early hours of the morn.
2. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Mumbai at night
There are plenty of rooftop bars in Mumbai that open ’till late. Perched atop the Four Seasons Hotel in Worli, AER is open every day until 1:30am. It’s a super chic spot that offers premium cocktails and gorgeous views of the bay. Another popular spot is Asilo, a snazzy open-air lounge located on the 37th floor of The St. Regis Mumbai. This place does all the fancy cocktails and spirits you could ever wish for, and the green forest theme adds a unique edge to the drink proceedings.
3. Have endless hours of fun at Smaaash Utopia City
Games, games and more games — this is Smaaash Utopia City, India’s most acclaimed gaming and entertainment centre. Spanning over 120,000 square feet, this place has almost every arcade game you could think of, including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and pinball. Consider yourself a sports fan? You’re in luck. They have a 360-degree cricket simulator, UV-lit bowling alleys, fast-paced dodgeball games and multi-level go-kart racing tracks.
4. Immerse yourself in the glow of Candlelight

5. Grab a late-night drink
Quirky bars, vibrant clubs, unique cafĂ©s — there are more than a few watering holes in Mumbai where you can get a late-night tipple. Places like PCO Cocktail Bar and Eau Bar both open until 1:30am and have an upscale but still casual kinda vibe, so you can have a fancy cocktail in a nice space without having to wear your finest fit. And in terms of clubs, Toy Room and Matahaari are two pretty upmarket places where you can party all night long (or at least until around 3:30am).
6. Take a midnight cycling tour around the city
If you’re looking for a new way to experience the city then get your wheels at the ready for a fun-filled midnight cycling tour in Mumbai. Treks and Trails offers a six-hour, 30-kilometer adventure tour that starts at 10pm and passes by multiple Mumbai landmarks such as Colaba Causeway, Marine Drive and Haji Ali. It costs ₹750 if you rock up with no equipment, but if you bring your own gear, the price is significantly cheaper (₹399 per person). What’s more, if you’d rather map out and do your own nighttime bicycle tour, you can rent a two-wheeler from one of the bike rentals in the area.
7. Explore the artsy Kala Ghoda district
There are loads of cool areas in Mumbai to explore, but there’s something extra special about Kala Ghoda. There are heritage buildings, art galleries and museums like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, and while most of these places shut up shop around 6pm, seeing them lit up at night is an experience in itself. Once you’ve checked out these cultural hotspots, you can then grab a bite to eat in one of the top-rated restaurants in the area or explore the historic streets that are home to magnificent colonial-era buildings.
8. Enjoy a nighttime photography walk
Mumbai is a photographer’s dream. It’s bright, bustling and brimming with life, so you only need to take a stroll down one of the city’s streets to snap a great shot. Meeting at the CST Station at 6pm, the Mumbai Heritage Night Photowalk takes visitors on a three-hour tour to explore the most iconic landmarks in the city and take some fabulous pics. You’ll be provided with expert photography tips by professional photographer Lokesh Tardalkar and marvel at the city’s rich Art Deco architecture after sunset.
