Just when you thought you knew everything there was to know about Mumbai’s nightlife, we’ve found something to shock you – Those Who Know They Know (TWKTK). No, I’m not talking in riddles, that’s the name of India’s only secret concert happening today, June 28, in Mumbai. You’ve got to hand it to them for a tongue-in-cheek name that understood the assignment.
Those Who Know They Know – secret techno music festival
This is the third edition and, while extremely well-hidden and kept under wraps, it has been successful enough to reel in over 5,000 music fans – none of whom knew where they were going or who they were going to be listening to, but trusted the process.
We’ve managed to uncover some info about this mysterious event: it’s an immersive music festival and India’s only 3D hologram event backed by Sunburn, Asia’s largest EDM festival. But at TWKTW, techno is the only genre. You’ll groove the night to every subgenre of techno tunes, from dark, industrial and hypnotic to mainstream and melodic techno.
Why won’t they tell who the artists are?
Because the organisers believe that attending concerts solely for the clout chasing and posting on Instagram about how you were at so-and-so artists’ gig is a crime against music. You know, that thing that happened with the Coldplay Concert when tickets sold and a lot of the attendees weren’t even fans?
I can tell you that performing DJs will be a mix of techno heavyweights and upcoming finds based on last year’s line-up – Almost Human (Rohit Gida) and Brazilian DJ duo Binaryh were some of the headliners. So rest assured, you’re in for the best of times.
How do we travel to the concert if the venue is hidden?
At the time of booking your tickets, select your preferred pickup location from across Mumbai. The concert organisers provide transport shuttles that will collect you from your chosen area and drop you off at a checkpoint. The final location will only be revealed there.
Okay, so what can I expect at Those Who Know They Know?
You can expect to have a blast. And a visually stunning multi-sensory experience. This gig will have India’s first moon roof projection mapping that will feel like you’re dancing under the open night sky. The stellar production continues with laser tunnels, LED dancers, smoke storms, roaming performers and confetti showers timed with the music. Pssst, there’s also a second stage that’s a stationary party bus!
You can also look forward to food stalls, cocktail and mocktail bars, quirky activities like tarot and palmistry lounges, as well as body art stations for UV face paint and temporary tattoos. Photo booths and Polaroid walls will lock down souvenirs so you can know and remember this enigmatic experience for years to come!
