The Condé Nast Traveller x District Top Restaurant Awards 2025 have revealed the top 50 restaurants in India, and our good old Mumbai is out there dominating the list! From taking over the top 3 ranks to securing 13 spots out of 50, our city is making history with their delicious delicacies and outstanding cocktails. Without further ado, we bring you the full list of Mumbai restaurants that earned a well-deserved spot on India’s top 50 restaurants.
1. The Table (#1)

Led by Chef Will Aghajanian and Chef Louis Bapi Gomes, The Table, Colaba emerges victorious as India’s Best Restaurant 2025. A landmark destination for years, the restaurant has been a staple for date-night goers, family luncheons, and corporate dinners, with a menu offering nothing less than excellence. Their cult favourite boneless chicken wings with a ginger glaze, and topped with scallions, have been and will continue to win hearts. The Babka Sticky Buns, baked with a finesse gloss, the French Onion Burgers with cloud-soft brioche buns and the Braised Lamb Hash served with a smoky tomato salsa all provide a delightful start to your day. Now, when it comes to lunch and dinner, you cannot go wrong with radicchio and guava salad with a cheeky crunch, a warm focaccia slathering the Lyon onion soup, and fettuccine al limone- the creamy classic.
2. Masque (#2)

With several awards under their belt (Conde Nast top restaurant awards 2024 included!), the formerly revived textile mill serves a luxurious experience along with a tantalising menu. Their ten-course tasting menu, led by chef Varun Totlani, extends a careful synthesis of traditional Indian meals with ingredients foraged from across the country. With their menu constantly on the move in reference to the changing seasons, you will often find the gorgeous plated dishes carrying experimental dishes. With a decade of experience, their fine dining ethos has made a global name for themselves.
3. Papa’s (#3)

A twelve-seater dining experience, reserving a spot at Papa’s is no less than Charlie finally stumbling across the golden ticket! With reservations booked up in seconds, this restaurant serves an exclusive tasting menu led by Chef Hussain Shahzad. Perched atop Veronica’s- Mumbai’s favourite deli- you will find a cosy attic laced with suspended lamps above a minuscule kitchen. Witness the chefs whipping up delicacies like char sui pork modaks, korma wellington and other outright outrageous yet supremely delectable dishes. Though the menu- both vegetarian and non-vegetarian courses- deserves excellent reviews, it’s the delightful charades that happen in between the courses that make it a must-have experience. You will see the general manager playing card tricks, the tables prepped with joke books, drinks tasting like pizza served in teacups, and an ice gola machine being rolled out mid-meal!
4. The Bombay Canteen (#4)

With a cheeky menu split into 3 parts- chintus, chotas and badas- the Bombay Canteen is no less than an institution in Mumbai. Chef Gaurav Yadav brings a gorgeous amalgamation that brings together Mumbai staples and fine-dining techniques. The raggda pattice, for instance, comes drizzled with crispy banana chips perched on a crispy fried raw banana tikki with a radish salad, pomegranate, and tangy amchur chutney! Choose from a plethora of dishes here, bringing ghee roast chicken seekh, Begum’s baked brie, the creamy prawn malai curry and the Chettinad Prawn Ali Olio with Ladi pao, perfect to swab the pool of prawn oil. A menu crafted as a love letter to the city, you will find both the drinks and dishes tugging on the city’s heartstrings.
5. Izumi Bandra (#12)

Founded by Chef Nooresha Kably, Izumi has been the forerunner of Japanese cuisine in Mumbai for close to a decade now. From robata grills to ramen and bouts of sushi, Izumi packs a colourful array of dishes perfect for a long luncheon or a romantic dinner. The Tori Paitan packs warm flavours post the simmering of chicken bones, the Shoyu Chintan wafts an umami flavour loaded with sprouts, carrots, tofu and leek, among more, whereas the matcha sponge cake soaked in milk is layered with creamy mascarpone, caramelised almonds and fresh berries. Now, whether it is delicate sashimi you are looking for or juicy gyozas, Izumi is the one comfort spot that seldom disappoints.
6. Bandra Born (#13)

A pop-up turned permanent, Bandra Born boasts an extensive menu of experimental dishes inspired by its namesake neighbourhood. Be it Brun Maska, Malai Podi Toast, Beet’s Meat or Cauli-fornication- these dishes, all inspired by classic favourites, are given a new life through extensive cooking techniques, infusions of atypical ingredients and plated with panache. Their drinks menu showcases the utmost skill with signature cocktails concocted with ingredients like shiitake, roasted cashews, pandan, and mahura flowers to give way to delicious pours.
7. O Pedro (#14)

Bringing Goan delicacies and aesthetics to Mumbai, O Pedro champions delicious coconut curries, an extensive preparation of seafood, and spicy cocktails, adding depth and flavour to its menu. The dried mango and kokum curry, rawa fried fish, Goan poee sandwiches, and slow braised lamb hide in them layers of flavours and right temperaments. A guava pineapple sour or mango mambo laced with salt and chilli is a worthy addition to its authentic menu.
8. Americano (#17)

Getting a reservation in this Kala Ghoda favourite is close to an impossible feat and for good reason! Leading the kitchen, Chef Alexander Lee Sanchez makes sure that every dish served is held up to the highest standard of scrutiny, thus earning the position among the top restaurant awards. Be it their delicious Neapolitan pizzas made with dough perfected over the years, or tiramisu holding a delicate balance between the crunch of the monogrammed disc and the creamy soft texture of layers beneath. Boasting elegance and meticulousness, every dish, along with cocktails, deserves a try.
9. La Loca Maria (#29)

Chef Manuel Olveira post his Michelin-starred endeavours around Madrid and Dubai, parks his bandwagon in Mumbai, bringing a contemporary Spanish dining experience. The tapas menu wins hearts with sourdoughs swabbing chilli garlic prawns, chicken wings drenched in Maria’s hot sauce, and Pan De Ajo made with pillow-soft brioche buns toasted with chive garlic butter. The tacos, although they steal the spotlight, with patrons not getting enough of the fillings like pumpkin, black beans, and fish, all slathered with lime, pineapple, and roasted carrots. A trip to the restaurant remains incomplete without its deconstructed version of tiramisu coming in hot with coffee crisps, coffee ice cream and layers of creamy mascarpone.
10. Wasabi by Morimoto (#30)

A Japanese fine-dining restaurant, Wasabi, tucked within The Taj imports ingredients straight from Japan to make sure the dishes remain as authentic as possible. Nurse your glass of sake as the waiter comes bearing plates carrying white fish carpaccio, black cod miso, and Wasabi crème brûlée- the respected signatures. The seared teriyaki Kobe steaks remain a gorgeous example of the excellence the restaurant strives for and are easily a must-try.
11. Veronica’s (#33)

The city’s favourite deli comes armed with perfectly buttered and toasted slices with loaded fillings. The Mumbai chilli cheese melt pairs perfectly with its foamy cappuccino, whereas the clucking good shawarma with a seriously delicious garlic tahini layer has die-hard fanatics. With coffees just as good as their generous sandwiches, the Vietnamese cold coffee and hazelnut cookie latte are a meal in themselves, while the espresso cinnamon cake holds a comforting taste that rarely makes you stop after the first bite.
12. Mizu Izakaya (#36)

Another Japanese restaurant making the list of top restaurant awards, Mizu Izakaya, brings incredible ramen, sushi, donburi, and more by Chef Lakhan Jethani. Sashimi is sliced to imitate glossy caviars, from ramen stems clouds of smoke wafting earthy flavours spun with lime and garlic and desserts mean nutty ice cream sandos and cotton cheesecakes. A treat to the buds as well as the eyes, every dish here is plated to feast all senses.
13. Kari Apla (#42)

Chef Ebaani Tewari and Mathew Varghese bring comforting bowls of mutton curry, Fish moilee drenched in coconut curry and prawn ghee roasts to your table. A simple space made to seat twenty is devoid of pomps and frills, where the only element designed to win outstanding points is its menu. The crispy flaky parathas, fragrant biryani, seafood steamed in a banana leaf- all stem from elementary ingredients cooked to present anything but extraordinary, placing it among the list for the top restaurant awards.
